The task: To design and produce a simple one arm bandit style game and sales presentation CD-ROM
Our solution: We designed and produced a simple stylish Flash game displaying Kevin and his vending machines spinning round the three wheels in place of the traditional bells and cherries. Part of our solution was to ensure that we upgraded the company sales presentation to feature the advantages of the new vending experience.

Info: Working closely with Kevin Chin and his team, we at digital zest have upgraded the existing Flash based company sales presentation to incorporate the new vending experience offered by the team at Kevin Chin. Vending with Kevin’s existing noodle franchise has been taken one step further to include a new vending experience that offers easy to use credit card rentals of both DVD’s and computer game’s (Xbox and PS2 games). So the team at digital zest have re-produced the sales presentation to communicate Kevin’s important vending message to the guests at the Birmingham NEC franchise show on the 8th & 9th October 2004.

To increase the number of people visiting their stand, Kevin and his team wanted a simple ‘one arm bandit’ style game to feature on an auto run CD-ROM. The idea was to hand out the CD’s at the front door of the exhibition advertising the top prizes to interest the exhibition guests to approach their stand and pop their disc into the computer to see if they had won. Kevin’s voice was added saying “You Win!!!!” or “You Loooooooose” along with the classic success and failure trumpet music bites.

With only a few discs containing the winning game, we produced one disc with the code that contained the winning formula and the other disc was programmed to always fail with totally random results. This allowed us to keep the disc replication costs down by only duplicating a few winning discs and several thousand failed discs. If we had to copy a thousand of each disc type that displayed a different failed result, the price would go considerably for each batch duplication job.

Once the game had finished, the CD would then go on to play the company sales presentation which promoted the benefits of franchising, which was included on the CD-ROM. The idea being that the guests would keep their discs and may possibly pop them in their home computers, thus allowing the message to be carried home.
